Malaysian Muslim Protestors Criticised Over 'Cow Head' Demo
MALAYSIA nOWaday...

F
or a most recently posted article, it said that the Malaysian lawmakers have condemned a group of Muslim protestors who trampled on a severed cow's head in protest at the building of a Hindu temple, and remained defiant on Sunday over the act.

In the latest religious dispute to erupt in multi-cultural Malaysia, local media said 50 Muslims on Friday took the head of the cow -- a sacred animal for Hindus -- to the central Selangor state government office and stamped on it.

The protest was against the relocation of a Hindu temple to a Muslim-majority neighbourhood in the state. News websites Malaysiakini and The Malaysian Insider published pictures of the bloodied cow head.

Around 60 percent of Malaysia's 27 million people are Muslim Malays, but the country is also home to large Chinese and Indian minorities, variously practising Buddhism, Christianity and Hinduism, among others.

Issues related to religion, language and race are sensitive matters in multi-racial Malaysia, which witnessed deadly riots in 1969. Therefore, on my personal view, it is important to carefully handling such kind issues to avoid any misunderstanding that can affect the union of the nations.

Cisco- Medianet Infrastructure
According to networking giant Cisco, by 2013, 90% of Internet traffic will be video and companies must have the right infrastructure in place to capitalise on this trend effectively. Video is dominating the Internet and this is a strain on the network, especially for service providers. Cisco believes that the best way to optimise the process is through the installation of a ‘medianet’ network.

To this end, Cisco is offering enterprises a type of intelligent network infrastructure that caters, in large part, to video-based utilities and services known generically as a medianet. Their medianet is designed to be aware of media transmitted, the end point device and the bandwidth available and adapts and manages accordingly. This involves reformating the video and lowering the broadcast resolution when bandwidth dips.

The solution is useful for companies that hold regular video-conference calls and those in the broadcasting industry. MTV Networks and Time Warner Cable are two large US broadcasting companies that have recently installed Cisco’s medianet.

Around 350 medianet systems have been installed for companies in the United States and other countries.

Although Cisco concedes that the effectiveness of the medianet is largely at the mercy of the availability and effectiveness of a broadband network, the company insists that as the Internet infrastructure matures in Malaysia, the medianet will become an invaluable asset.

Widget for HALAL food
The Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) has launched the world’s first Halal Directory widget that can be embedded within web portals and blogs. The directory offers information on halal products and services certified by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) and HDC.

Currently, the directory lists the halal status of more than 15,000 products by 1,400 local and international companies registered with the two agencies.
Jakim manages the applications for halal certification, auditing process, monitoring and enforcement, while HDC has been tasked to further boost the halal agenda in terms of standards development, branding and commercialisation.

Previously, users could check out the information only through the HDC website, however, now thanks to the widget, more users will be able to access the directory directly from their favourite web portals and blogs.

HDC is also exploring the idea of enabling the widget to be installed and used in social networking sites such as Facebook and on mobile devices powered by Symbian and Windows Mobile operating systems as well as the iPhone.

Exposition of Research and Development
THE International Exposition of Research and Inventions of Institutions of Higher Learning (PECIPTA), which will be held for the fifth time this year, will draw the attention of local and international industries. The exposition to be held from October 8-10, is jointly organised by the Higher Education Ministry and Universiti Malaya.

The exposition themed “Driving research innovation towards value creation,” would be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). It would see a total of over 500 exhibits, from 19 public universities (IPTA) and 3 private institutions (IPTS) of higher learning.

At a press conference recently, Higher Education Ministry director-general Prof Datuk Radin Umar Radin Sohadi said that the ministry already had plans to look into the details of these inventions. One of the ways to do so, he added, was through expositions like PECIPTA.
“The focus of this exposition is to showcase the research and development (R&D) works that have been done, and encourage the commercialisation of the products featured,” he said.

Universiti Malaya vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Ghauth Jasmon agreed, saying, “we hope to attract not only local visitors, but more foreign visitors, as this event is aimed to expose the level of research and output that has been done by Malaysian universities”. “Based on what we have seen, the research capability of Malaysian universities is comparable to that of international standards,” he added.

Prof Ghauth said that they have saw over 30,000 visitors in the previous PECIPTA event, and this year, they hope to see more visitors.

p/s: There will also be a competition to spice up the event.

Check for PTPTN Loan Result

STUDENTS who have applied for the Ujrah (syariah-compliant financing product) loan under the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) should check the corporation’s website to find out the status of their applications.

Those who have been offered should click on ‘e-pinjaman’ and log in with the same password they used for the online application.Students should also print their offer letters and complete the necessary documentations and send them to the PTPTN office. All documents should arrive by tomorrow. Only completed documents submitted within the stipulated time frame would be processed for the Ujrah offer.

To date, only 1,372 of 6,327 students have responded. The first batch of students chosen as qualified for the loans are those who had their PTPTN education loan approved online between June and December 21 last year; those who are undergoing diploma and arts degree programmes at public universities (IPTA) and those who are not receiving PTPTN loan advance.
Those who qualified but have not as yet received the offer are expected to get theirs in the next batch.

The corporation has begun implementing the syariah-compliant financing product concept recently

- An Ujrah borrower has to be a student and those with outstanding loans would need to settle them before they are eligible for the Ujrah facility.

- A borrower who has been convicted by a court is also not eligible for the loan.

When i was still a young girl with high curiosity and childish, i used to envy when i saw people able o do something that i can't. One of the things is completing the magic cube. Deep in my memory, i remember that my sister once had a magic cube which was broken at the end due to the uncountable times of trying to solve the cube.

Few weeks ago, i got the chance to went back to my hometown. THERE, i found out that my brother manage to solve the cube in a short time. Immediately, i ask him to teach me the way to solve it. After wasting two nights time to teach this slow-learner sister. Additionally, it is the nights before his mid-year exams.(Luckily my mother didn't aware about it)

Fortunately, this is the result out:

This movie showing the convocation ceremony that held in University of Malaya on 15th August 2009. It was also my sister's convocation ceremony. Hope everyone will like it although it is a bit bored. But, since that day only ny parents were allowed to enter into the convocation hall, I am quite regret for not having the chance to experience the atmosphere inside the hall.

My trip to KL. (part 1)
Once upon a time...No,no,no...Supposely is on early morning of 15 August, a university girl with her laptop backpack and a luggage plus a Malaysia Airlines ticket which is to KL, reach at Kota Kinabalu International Airport...

Inside of the airport was very cold and less people around. While the girl trying to pass through the customs checkpoint for depart, the officer is stopping the girl~

Officer: STOP!! Please take off your mask, miss. =)

Seem like the girl forgot to take off the mask for identity checking purpose. (in my heart: purpsss..it was so embarassing..) The girl then followed what is told by the officer, luckily there was not many people over there. In the waiting room for departing, the girl started feel boring because of waiting for too long. Then, she took out her old and cheap camera for capture some photos...

Finally, she got inside to the airplane, Boeing 737, seat number 27D. flight from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur.

The wonderful sky scene captured on the plane, the first appeared aurora of sun on the morning, with the peak of Kinabalu Mountain..

Two and a half hours later...
At last, the plane safely arrive at KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport). The family of the girl have been waiting for her outside the airport.

To be continued to part 2...
My trip to KL.(part 2)
To University of Malaya

Walk and walk along the corridor... It is a long path to walk from the arrive point to the main entry of KLIA. Due to that, it took some time for me to reach the exit point of KLIA (To my sis, please don't blame me for the late, it is all the KLIA's fault.=P). Along the way, there are some shop lots that selling different kind of products such as chocolate, alcohol liquor, branded bags, and so on.

Once i got into the car, we were immediately rush to Petalling Jaya, place where my sister stayed at. Since it is the most important day in her life, my sister's CONVOCATION. For the whole morning, we were rushing for doing all preparation for her convocation. She is the first graduated degree holder in my family, that's why we all so nervous about it. Especially is my sister herself. She was graduated honour from University of Malaya, in Bachelor of Science (Major in Biochemistry). She was one of the twelve graduats that graduated with distinction, means
First Class Honour...

The convocation ceremony takes about three hours to be finish, means i have been waiting for Three HourS outside the convocation hall.~ Additional, it is a rainy afternoon... Below are some photos taken after the convocation ceremony end.

At the night, we were went for a buffet styled steamboat dinner.

p/s: The four days back home trip's flight tickets were sponsored by my sister. Thanks~

INFLUENZA A(H1N1) Update
This is a funny clip with the important message that i would like to share with u all..(Remember to wash your hand Regularly)

HoW To Prevent InFluenza A(h1N1)???
INFLUENZA A(H1N1)
1 MORE A(H1N1) DEAD REPORTED

While everyone is happily celebrating the 52th National Day, maybe there are people that suffered from the Influeza A(H1N1) at the other corner of the country. For the latest news, a 49-year-old unemployed man who died in the Malacca Hospital is the latest victim of Influenza A(H1N1), bringing the national death toll from the disease to 72.

His was the first reported death since last Wednesday when a 24-year-old woman, who died on Aug 19, was confirmed to be the 71st victim by the Health Ministry mortality review committee.

The man was admitted to the hospital on Aug 13 and immediately given anti-viral drugs and anti-biotics, after having fever, cough and vomiting for two days.

His condition worsened due to lung disorders, although he tested negative for tubercolosis, typhoid, dengue, leptospira infection and H1N1 on Aug 18.

The man was moved into the intensive care unit where he passed away on Aug 19 due to "severe pneumonia with septicaemic shock and H1N1", according to Health Department director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican.

"The post-mortem biopsy report based on lung samples tested positive for Influenza A(H1N1) on Aug 24," he said in a statement Sunday.

He added that, as of 9am Sunday, 202 new patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) have been admitted to hospitals for treatment, while 285 have been discharged.

ABOUT INFLUENZA A(H1N1)

H1N1 (referred to as “swine flu” early on) is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. This virus is spreading from person-to-person worldwide, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread. On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) signaled that a pandemic of novel H1N1 flu was underway.

There is no vaccine available right now to protect against novel H1N1 virus. However, a novel H1N1 vaccine is currently in production and may be ready for the public in the fall. As always, a vaccine will be available to protect against SEASONAL INFLUENZA. There are everyday actions that can help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza such as wash your hand regularly, stay at home if you are suffered from sick...

3rd International Conference on Chemical
The 3rd International Conference on Chemical was orgenized by Chemical Engineering Programme, School Of Engineering & Information Technology UMS. It was held at Novotel Hotel, 1Borneo Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from 12 –14th August 2009.

ABOUT

Malaysia is the 4th most biodiverse nation in Asia. However, the utilization of biodiversity is relatively untapped in Malaysia compared to countries like the USA and Europe. By introducing new methods and technologies in the bioprocessing of existing natural resources in Malaysia, we can expect to see a synergistic combination that promises great things. Examples include the extraction and purification of Tongkat Ali (EurycomalongifoliaJack) active ingredients and application in pharmaceutical and neutraceuticals; the production of biodiesel from palm oil, and the biotechnology facilitation of the breeding and hatching activities of high-value marine fish.

As an example of Malaysian biodiversity, Sabah is a potential hub for biotechnology industries with its diverse flora and fauna. Industries involving phytochemicals, marine products, biofuels can benefits from this abundance through value added processing which requires advanced in natural resources engineering through advanced materials, product design and product development.

Therefore, I really hope that ICCBPE/SOMChE-2009 will enhance and expedite this synergistic combination.

Furthermore, the article said that the primary aim of ICCBPE/SOMChE-2009 is to discuss the potential technologies for advanced product design and as a platform for collaboration between researchers and industries for natural products.

A particular area of focus for ICCBPE will be bioprocessing. The benefits of biotechnology might be an anomaly if it were not for engineering, specifically bioprocess engineering, the discipline that puts biotechnology to work. To quote Louis Pasteur, bioprocess engineering is to biotechnology “as the fruit is to the tree.” Neither can exist without the other.
